Özet

Since the earliest times of history, fever has been the symptom that has attracted the most attention of mankind among the many symptoms of disease. Ancient civilizations (Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Jinn, Indian and Greek), despite their good knowledge of anatomy and physiology, feared of fever as a punishment caused by evil spirits or as a sign of death. In the history of medicine, it is very difficult to separate the history of febrile diseases from the history of infectious diseases, as most of the diseases that cause the body temperature of living beings to increase are also transmitted from one living being to another. For this reason, since fever as a harbinger of infectious diseases means the onset of the disease, fever is a warning for healthy people. Hippocrates (5th century BC) linked the importance of fever to the pulse rate and made predictions based on what the patient felt. Galen (2nd century AD) stated that there are four qualities in the body: heat, cold, dryness and humidity.
