Züleyhâ’nın Kimliği: Mesnevilerden Hareketle Züleyhâ Hakkındaki Anlatıların Kökeni Üzerine

| dc.description.abstract | Yûsuf ile Züleyhâ mesnevileri üzerine şimdiye kadar pek çok çalışma yapılmasına rağmen bu mesnevinin ana kahramanlarından Züleyhâ’nın kimliği ve başından geçen olayların kökeni hakkında henüz ayrıntılı bir çalışma yoktur. Kutsal kitaplarda Züleyhâ hakkında çok az bilgiye yer verilmiş olmakla birlikte hikâyesi mesnevilerde çeşitli motiflerle ve olaylarla genişletilerek anlatılmıştır. Bu makalede bu anlatı genişlemesinin muhtemel kökeni ele alınacak ve Züleyhâ’nın mesnevilerdeki kimliğine katkı sağladığı düşünülen Yahudi anlatılarına dayalı Asenat efsanesiyle bağlantısına yer verilecektir. Her iki kadın kahraman hakkındaki efsanelere dayalı bilgiler aktarıldıktan sonra ortak noktaları incelenecek ve mesnevilerdeki anlatı genişlemesinin kaynağı değerlendirilecektir. Bu değerlendirme sonucunda, Yûsuf ile Züleyhâ mesnevilerinin bir yönüyle Kur’ân-ı Kerîm’e dayandığına; ancak Müslüman yazarlar tarafından, Yahudi anlatılarının etkisiyle kaleme aldıkları peygamberler tarihine dair eserlerin, mesnevilerdeki hikâyeye etki ettiğine ve motiflerin bu eserlerden mesnevilere geçtiğine değinilecektir. Yahudi anlatıları içerisinde yer alan ve milattan sonra beşinci yüzyılda yaygınlık kazandığı bilinen Asenat efsanesi ise mesnevilerdeki ilgili motiflerin ve anlatı genişlemesinin muhtemelen en temel sebebidir. | |
| dc.description.abstract | Many studies are found on the text and textual interpretation of the mathnawis of Yusufand Zulaykha; however no detailed study has yet to occur on the identity of Zulaykha, one of the main protagonists of this mathnawi, or on the origin of the events that happened to her. The holy books do not mention Zulaykha by name and provide very little information about her. However, the mathnawis expand her story with various motifs and events. This article explores the possible origins of this narrative expansion and its connection to the legend of Asenath based on Jewish narratives, which is thought to have contributed to Zulaykha’s identity in the mathnawi. After presenting the legendary information about both heroines, the study analyzes their commonalities and evaluates the source of narrative diversification in the mathnawis. As a result of this evaluation, the Yusuf and Zulaykha mathnawis are said to be based on the Noble Qur’an in one aspect. However, the works on the history of prophets as written by Muslim authors under the influence of Jewish narratives also influenced the story in the mathnawis and the motifs passed from these works to the mathnawis. The legend of Asenath, a Jewish narrative known to have become widespread in the 5th century A.D., is probably the main reason for the related motifs and narrative expansion in the mathnawis. | |
