Özet

Aim: Although the etiology and physiopathology are not yet\rknown, the possible effects of tubal sterilization (TS) on ovarian\rfunction are still debated. Limited studies analyzed the histopathology\rof endometrium and ovaries after TS. In this study, we\raimed to evaluate the histopathological and biochemical changes\rof tubal sterilizations with the Pomeroy technique on tubal, ovarian,\rand endometrial tissues in rats.\rMaterial and Method: Twenty female Wistar albino rats were randomly\rdivided into two groups, with laparotomy only (Group 1)\rand laparotomy + TS (Group 2). Histopathological evaluation was\rperformed after Hematoxylin-Eosin staining. Follicle-stimulating\rhormone (FSH), estradiol (E2), and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)\rlevels were biochemically measured.\rResults: In Group 2, there was inflammation, hyalinization and\rcongestion in the ovaries, tubas and endometrial tissues compared\rto Group 1. A statistically significant decrease in E2 (p <0.05) values\rwas detected in Group 2 compared to Group 1. In Group 2,\rmean FSH and LDH (p> 0.05) values were found to be increased,\ralthough not statistically significant, compared to Group 1.\rConclusion: We can say that tubal sterilization causes detrimental\reffects such as inflammatory cell infiltration in the ovaries of rats.\rFurther studies are needed to explain the possible mechanisms for\rthe reduced ovarian reserves after tubal sterilization.
