Geç Dönem Osmanlı Ahlâk Düşüncesinde Yeni Telif Arayışları

Osmanlı modernleşme süreci sadece askerî ve teknik sahada gerçekleşen amelî hareketler manzumesi olmanın ötesinde düşünce dünyasını da kapsayan, devletin ve dinin varlığını sürdürmesini gaye edinen, siyasî erkin, bürokratların, ilim adamları ve aydınların top yekûn dahil olduğu bir tarih kesitidir. Askerî yenilgiler ve ardından gelen toprak kayıpları ve bu olayların beraberinde getirdiği sonuçlar bütün müspet ve menfi taraflarıyla modernleşmenin bir zorunluluk halini aldığını Osmanlı Devleti dahil olmak üzere tüm İslâm âlemine kendini göstermiştir. Bu çalışmanın amacı Osmanlı modernleşmesi sürecinde yayınlanan ahlâk kitaplarının klasik İslâm ahlâk metinlerinden şekil ve muhteva noktasında ne derece farklılaştığını ortaya koymaktır. İlk merhalede klasik İslâm ahlâk düşünce tarihinin bir devamı olarak nitelendirebileceğimiz Osmanlı ahlâk metinlerinin içerikleri incelendiğinde modernleşme sürecinin etkisi altında vücud bulduğu anlaşılmaktadır. Modern Osmanlı ahlâk müellifleri modernleşmeyle birlikte ortaya çıkan problemleri ahlâk metinlerinin imkân ve kabiliyetleri çerçevesinde çözmeye çalışmaktadır. Zikredilen bu durum klasik ahlâk metinlerinin sınırlarını zorlayacak mesele ve mevzuların modern ahlâk metinleri içerisine dahil olmasına neden olmuştur. Mesele sadece içeriğin değişmesi ile sınırlı kalmamış, modernleşme sürecinin icbar ettiği talepler ahlâk metinlerinin yeni bir şekle bürünmesini zorunlu kılmıştır. Bu makale sözü edilen bu sürecin hangi sâiklerle başladığını, tarihî seyri içinde nasıl bir şekil aldığını ve bu sürecin neticesinde ahlâk alanında ne tür yeni telif şekillerinin ortaya çıktığını problem edinmektedir.

The Ottoman modernization process was not only a set of practical actions in the military and technical fields, but it was also a historical episode that encompassed the world of thought, aimed at the survival of the state and religion, and involved the political power, bureaucrats, scholars and intellectuals as a whole. The military defeats and the subsequent territorial losses and their implications have shown to the entire Islamic world, including the Ottoman Empire, that modernization has become a necessity in all its positive and negative dimensions. The aim of this study is to reveal to what extent the ethics books published during the Ottoman modernization process diverged from the classical Islamic ethical texts in terms of form and content. When we examine the contents of the Ottoman ethical texts, which can be described as a continuation of the history of classical Islamic ethical thought at first level, it is understood that they came into being under the influence of the modernization process. Modern Ottoman ethical writers attempted to solve the problems that emerged with modernization within the framework of the possibilities and capabilities of ethical texts. This situation led to the inclusion of issues and topics that would push the limits of classical ethical texts into modern ethical texts. The issue was not limited to the change of content, but the demands imposed by the modernization process necessitated a new form of ethical texts. This paper examines the motives behind this process, how it took shape in its historical course, and what kind of new forms of writing emerged in the field of ethics as a result of this process.
