Özet

The accurate use of language plays a crucial role in ensuring clarity, effectiveness, and aesthetic quality in both individual and social communication. The preservation of this aesthetic dimension largely depends on prosody that is the natural patterns of stress, rhythm, and intonation inherent to the language. The purpose of this study is to identify and analyze prosodic errors in the 10th Anniversary March (10. Yıl Marşı) within the framework of proper Turkish usage. In Turkish, word structure, syllable duration, stress patterns, and the natural flow of speech are essential linguistic features that should be maintained in musical interpretation. However, in certain marches, discrepancies can be observed between the composer’s melodic design and the natural prosodic structure of the language. Such mismatches not only distort the intended meaning but also diminish the aesthetic experience for the listener. As marches are symbolic works that express national identity and collective emotion, violations of prosodic integrity may weaken their national and emotional function. This qualitative study employs document analysis and descriptive analytical methods. The 10th Anniversary March was selected as the sample, and prosodic inconsistencies within the piece were systematically examined. © 2025, Tolga Karaca. All rights reserved.
