A voltammetric method was used for the quantitative determination of moxifloxacin hyrochloride (MOXHCl) in pharmaceutical preparations and spiked human urine. The electrochemical experiments were carried out in different buffer solutions in the pH range from 0.51 to 12.00 on glassy carbon electrode (GCE) by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) techniques. The effect of pH on the peak current and peak potential was investigated. Phosphate buffer (pH 6.50) was selected for analytical purposes. The peak was established to be diffusion controlled nature of electrode. A linear calibration curve for DPV analysis was constructed in the MOXHCl range from 3x10-4 M to 1.1x10-3M. Limit of detection (LOD) and quantification (LOQ) were obtained as 5.51x10-5 M and 2.30x10-4 respectively. Applied method was valided.
