Özet
Obese patients subjected to surgery is rapidly increasing in line with the increase of obesity in population. Obesity could aggravate morbid status due to the anatomical, functional and systemic changes in patients; therefore, obese patients are considered at high risk for anesthesia. Several anesthesia related complications could develop in obese patients undergoing surgery with general anesthesia. A well equipped crew and teamwork, optimal preoperative preparation, aspiration and thromboembolism prophylaxis, monitorization, choosing short acting and low doses of intravenous anesthetics for anesthesia induction and management, putting patient in ramp position for intubation, intraoperative and postoperative ventilator settings to prevent atelaktezia, applying PEEP and reküirtment, providing adequate fluid replacement and analgesia; would provide safer and effective anesthetic management for the prevention of residual block and anesthesia complications after extubation. © 2015, Anatolian Journal of Clinical Investigation.
