dc.description.abstractDepremler tarih boyunca insanoğlu ve devletler için en yıkıcı doğal afetlerden birisi olmuştur. Bu çerçevede Osmanlı Devleti’nin 6 asırlık yaşamında hükmettiği farklı coğrafyalarda çok sayıda yıkıcı depremler meydana geldiği bilinmektedir. Bu konuyla alakalı olarak Osmanlı arşivinde önemli sayıda belge mevcuttur. Çalışmada, günümüzde de halen şiddetli depremlere sebep olan pek çok fay hattını barından Ege Bölgesinde/denizinde meydana gelen ve İmroz Adasında (Gökçeada) ciddi bir yıkıma sebep olan 1859 tarihli zelzele mevzubahis edilmiştir. Ayrıca yaşanan depremin yarattığı tahribat ve sonrasında ahalisinin tamamı Rumlardan müteşekkil olan adaya devletin müdahalesi ve yardımları incelenmiştir
dc.description.abstractEarthquakes have been one of the most devastating natural disasters for human beings and states throughout history. In this framework, it is known that many destructive earthquakes occurred in different countries that the Ottoman Empire ruled during its 6 centuries life span. There are a significant number of documents in the Ottoman archive regarding this issue.In the study, the earthquake dated 1859, which occurred in the Aegean Region / sea from many fault lines that still cause severe earthquakes, and caused a serious destruction in Imroz Island (Gökçeada), was discussed. In addition, the damage caused by the earthquake and the state's intervention and assistance to the island, whose entire population was formed by Rums, were examined.
