dc.description.abstractThe purpose of this research is to determine the self-efficacy perceptions and cognitive attitudes of pre-service elementary teachers about social science and social studies teaching I. The relational survey method was used about the the self-efficacy perceptions and cognitive attitudes of pre-service elementary teachers. The data were collected through a Likert type scale instrument developed by researchers. The students were asked to evaluate their own competencies with reference to given items in the instrument using a scale ranging form poor to excellent. The data were collected form 192 preservice elementary teachers of class level 3 and 4. The data analyzed according to variables likes gender, class, type of instruction, GPA, achievement level of lesson. The findings indicated that in most of the competency areas, students find themselves average or good about social sciences and social studies teaching I. The participants' evaluation of their competencies do not show any differences based on gender, class, GPA, achievement level of lesson.
