Tinea incognito is a dermatophytic infection that is usually seen secondary to systemic or topical corticosteroid utilization and difficult to diagnose because it does not show the typical clinical presentation of superficial mycosis. The present case was an 11-year-old male patient presenting with pityriasis rosea-like dermatosis in his pubic region. The patient with a history of topical and systemic steroid usage was diagnosed as dermatophytosis by histopathological examination. After definitive diagnosis, the patient responded well to systemic and topical antimycotic treatment. As a result, tinea incognito is not a rare clinical entity and can be presented with different clinical forms due to ampirical steroid treatments. Thus, in the cases of atypical, erythematous and scaly plaques, it should not be forgetten that the existence of dermatophtosis should be kept in mind and recovery can be achieved with appropriate antifungal therapy.
