dc.description.abstractAgriculture is the most valuable economic activity that people have been engaged in for about 12 thousand years to meet people's needs, especially food. Agriculture is also a major source of serious environmental problems. Efforts to increase agricultural production in order to feed the increasing population have led to a transformation into annual monoculture cultivation with intensive inputs. Consequently, while intensive usage of chemicals and tillage make safe food production difficult. It also opens the door to soil erosion, decrease in soil water holding capacity, organic matter and biological activity, loss of biodiversity and other environmental problems. Furthermore, these adverse effects have been experienced in almost all agricultural ecosystems where monocropping is implemented. Various environment-friendly alternative agricultural practices have been developed and put into practice to overcome these adverse effects. In this review paper, these adverse effects, caused by agriculture, have been evaluated and taking benefits in the lights of scientific studies
dc.description.abstractTarım başta gıda olmak üzere insanların ihtiyaçlarını gidermek için insanlar tarafından yaklaşık 12 bin yıldır uğraşılan en kıymetli ekonomik faaliyettir. Tarım aynı zamanda ciddi çevre sorunlarının da önemli bir kaynağıdır. Artan nüfusu besleyebilmek için tarımsal üretimi artırma çabaları, yoğun girdili yıllık tek ürün (monokültür) yetiştiriciliğine dönüşüme neden olmuştur. Bunun sonucunda yoğun kimyasal kullanımı ve toprak işleme güvenli gıda üretimini zorlaştırırken, toprak kaybına, toprakların su tutma kapasitesi, organik maddesi ve canlı faaliyetinin azalmasına, biyolojik çeşitliliğin kaybına ve diğer çevre sorunlarına da kapı aralamıştır. Üstelik tek ürün yetiştirilen hemen hemen bütün tarımsal ekosistemlerde bu sorunlar yaşanmıştır. Bu durumun üstesinden gelebilmek için değişik çevre dostu alternatif tarım sistemleri geliştirilmiş ve uygulamaya konulmuştur. Bu makalede tarım kaynaklı bu olumsuz etkiler, yapılan bilimsel çalışmalardan yararlanılarak değerlendirmiştir.
