dc.description.abstractThis interview was held on 17 January 2014 in Bosporus University, İstanbul where Loïc Wacquant was invited as a keynote speaker for Hrant Dink Memorial Lecture on Freedom of Speech and Human Rights. The interview focuses on three themes: explicating the changing structure of urban marginality and describing the peculiar features of advanced marginality, rethinking the merits of Pierre Bourdieu’s relational point of view for urban sociology, and putting Bourdieu to work in the analysis of Gezi Events. First of all, the interview focuses on the roles of deindustrialization, fragmentation of salaried labor, and restriction of welfare state on the making of advanced marginality. For this purpose, Wacquant explicates how neoliberal state answers to Karl Polanyi and Carl Schmitt questions through the enlargement of the right hand of the state. Second, the contribution of Bourdieusian point of view to urban sociology is discussed. Bourdieusian sociology can abolish urban sociology by reconstructing it as a sub-field of topological sociology as well as it can reformulate urban sociology as the analysis of intensification, accumulation and diversification of the forms of capital. Lastly, Bourdieu’s conceptual tools are put to work in the analysis of Gezi Events.    [TR] Bu söyleşi, Loïc Wacquant 17 Ocak 2014’te Hrant Dink İnsan Hakları ve İfade Özgürlüğü Konferansı’nda konuşmacı olarak Türkiye’ye geldiğinde, Boğaziçi Üniversitesi’nde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Söyleşi üç temel konu etrafında biçimlenmektedir: Kentsel marjinalliğin değişen yapısını ve ileri marjinalliğin özgün niteliklerini açıklığa kavuşturmak, Bourdieucü kent sosyolojisinin imkânlarını sorgulamak ve bu özgün bakışı Gezi Olayları’nın analizinde işe koşmak. Söyleşi ilk olarak, sanayisizleşmenin yaygınlaşmasının, ücretli emeğin parçalanmasının ve refah devletinin küçülmesinin ileri marjinalliğin doğuşundaki rolüne odaklanıyor. Bu amaç doğrultusunda Wacquant, bürokrasi alanında yaşanan dönüşümlere, devletin sağ elindeki genişlemeye odaklanarak neoliberal devlet inşasının Karl Polanyi ve Carl Schmitt sorunsallarına nasıl cevap ürettiğini netliğe kavuşturur. Ardından neoliberalizmin fiili mantığını açıklamak için başvurulan Bourdieucü kavram setinin, kent sosyolojisi için açtığı yeni imkânlar sorgulanır. Bourdieucü bakış, kent sosyolojisini fesh edip, onu daha genel topolojik sosyolojinin bir alt başlığı olarak mekân sosyolojisine dönüştürebileceği gibi, çeşitli sermaye türlerinin yoğunlaştığı, biriktiği ve farklılaştığı, toplumsal uzamla eş-mantıklı fiziksel uzamın analizi biçiminde yeniden formüle edebilir. Son olarak, Bourdieucü bakış açısının Gezi Olayları’nın analizinde nasıl kullanılabileceği tartışılıyor.
