dc.description.abstractIndividuals travel locally and globally in order to find alternative treatments which are less-toxicand more beneficial to their health and wellness. Cupping therapy is based on the principle that differentsized cups create a vacuum effect on the skin and increase the blood flow in the area to a high level. Thus,while increasing the amount of oxygen and blood in the tissues, the excretion of toxins and carbon dioxidethrough the lymph is accelerated. Despite the popularity of western system of medicine, cupping therapystarted to attract great attention in Turkey as a traditional and complementary medicine system to improve thequality of people's life. It is also a source of attraction for wellness and health tourism. In this context, thepresent study aims to examine the effectiveness of Cupping Therapy (CT) on health-seeking travelers in thesample of visitors who have had cupping therapy at least once in their life. The findings of the studyindicated that the participants who visited the thermal facilities to have CT considered the CT as analternative and complementary treatment method without side effects. The participants also indicated that CTmade them feel good and healthy. From this point of view, it can be said that CT positively affectsindividuals' perception of physical and psychological health and increases people's health and general qualityof life. Based on the study results, with the reason of cupping therapy has very common knowledge anddemand within Turkey, it can also be said that CT is a different way of increasing the variety of wellness andhealth tourism
