In this study, the fecundity of S. smaris was studied on the basis of specimens sampled from commercial catches in the North Aegean Sea between April 2004 and May 2005. Fecundity-length relationship and fecundity-age relationships were estimated as F=1,443L(2,4694) (r = 0,65) and F= 1780,6+5635,3A (r = 0,66) respectively. Fecundity varied from a minimum of 1961 eggs at 10,5 +/- 0,131 cm length to a maximum of 26750 at 14,5 +/- 0,131 cm length.
