The research was planned as descriptive and cross-sectional in order to determine the knowledge level of nurses about indwelling urinary catheterization (IUC) and the factors affecting it. The population of the research consists of 720 nurses working in two different state hospitals. The sample of the study consisted of 317 nurses who agreed to participate in the study. "Nurse Descriptive Characteristics Form" and "Indwelling Urinary Catheterization Practice Information Form" were used to collect data. In the analysis of the data, descriptive analyzes, parametric and non-parametric tests and logistic regression analysis were used with PSPP and Microsoft Excel programs. It was determined that the mean age of the nurses participating in the study was 33.07±8.78, 95.3% were women, 53% were married, and 68.8% were undergraduate graduates. The most correct answer by the nurses was "Hands should be washed before and after urinary catheter insertion." and the least correct answer is "What should be the characteristics of the lubricant used during urinary catheterization?" was determined to be a question. The effect of nurses on the correct total scores of IUC and the total score of the things that should be considered during IUC was found to be statistically significant for those with a working year of 11 years and above compared to those with 1-5 years and 6-10 years of work (p<0.05). The effect of the education status on the mean scores of the nurses was found to be statistically significant (p<0.05). It was observed that individual characteristics of nurses did not affect the knowledge level of IUC, only the knowledge levels of nurses who worked for 1-5 years and 6-10 years compared to 11 years and more of their professional working years had a positive effect (p?0.05). It was observed that the education received positively affected the knowledge level of nurses about IUC (p?0.05).
