Geleneksel Yunan askeri kıyafetleri

Evzonas kelimesinin kökeni eski Yunan dilinden gelir ve "efsun" anlamına gelir. İlk referansları Homeros destanlarında, ardından Ksenophon ve Thucydides'in eserlerinde bulunmaktadır. Bu askeri üniformaya ilk atıf, 1821'de yapılmıştır. 1822-1824'te İngiltere'den askeri üniforma bağışı alan Yunanistan, Ioannis Kapodostrias'ın etkisiyle 1828 yılında Fransız tarzı üniformayı Yunan ordusuna tanıttı. Üniforma özellikle 1833 ve 1868 yıllarında yeniden değişikliğe uğradı. Üniformadaki hâki renginin günümüze kadar korunduğu görülmektedir. Evzonas, 1868'de Kral I. George'un kararnamesiyle Agima adıyla bilinen kıyafet olarak kurulduğu andan itibaren Atina, Yunanistan'da 2 Herodou Attikou Caddesi'nde yerini almıştır. Georgios Tzavelas'ın adını taşıyan kampta kullanılmıştır. Bu kıyafet, Yunanistan askerlerinin adeta sembolü haline gelmiş ve uluslararası alanda çok popüler olmuştur. Evzonas, Attika'daki Irodou Caddesi'ndeki Meçhul Asker Anıtı'nı, Başkanlık Sarayı'nı ve Georgios Tzavelas Kampı Kapısının önünde günde 24 saat nöbet tutan askerlerden oluşmaktadır. Muhafızların resmi nöbet değişimleri çok popüler olup dünyanın dört bir yanından gelen birçok ziyaretçiye de kendilerini hayran bıraktırmaktadırlar.

The origin of the word Evzonas comes from the ancient Greek language and means "enchantment". Its first references are in the Homeric epics, then in the works of Xenophon and Thucydides. The first reference to this military uniform was made in 1821. Greece, which received a military uniform donation from England in 1822-1824, introduced the French style uniform to the Greek army in 1828 under the influence of Ioannis Kapodostrias. The uniform was changed again, especially in 1833 and 1868. It is seen that the khaki color in the uniform has been preserved until today. Evzonas has taken its place at 2 Herodou Attikou Street in Athens, Greece, from the time it was established in 1868 as the outfit known as Agima by decree of King George I. It was used in the camp named after Georgios Tzavelas. This outfit has become a symbol of the Greek soldiers and has become very popular internationally. Evzonas consists of soldiers standing guard 24 hours a day in front of the Monument to the Unknown Soldier on Irodou Street in Attica, the Presidential Palace and the Gate of the Georgios Tzavelas Camp. The official changingof the guard is verypopular, and they also amaze many visitors from all over the world.
