dc.description.abstractThis study aims to analyse the usage of inverted sentences which we have been witnessing in daily life, language and literature as well as show public perception about the inverted sentences. In the research, eight proses by eight different Turkish writers have been analysed according six factors. The observed data showed that inverted sentences more likely to be used by so-called left-wing writers who wrote about social subjects. To collect data about public opinion, a survey, consisting of 12 questions and answered by 500 people, conducted by the researchers. Regarding the last question, which serves most for the work, 772 connotations have been indicated by 448 people and these connotations have been associated with 267 different terms. According to data gathered by the open-ended questions, it could be said that society is in a dilemma as well as linguists. That we have come across different terms in addition to positive and negative answers shows the wealthy world of thought in Turkish society.
