    ANALYSIS OF THE ATTITUDES OF PARTICIPANTS IN "A PINCH OF SCIENCE, A WORLD OF FESTIVITY 2024"

    Science festivals are organized to disseminate scientific knowledge, increase interest in science, and enhance scientific thinking skills. This study was conducted to determine the opinions of students who participated in the \"A Pinch of Science, A World of Festivity 2024\" project, which was deemed worthy of support under the TÜBİTAK 4007 Science Festivals Support Program. The project, held in the Ezine district of Çanakkale Province, featured 21 different workshops and attracted 5,000 participants. A sample of 357 participants was reached through convenience sampling. The data were collected using a Personal Information Form and the Science Festival Attitude Scale, and analyzed using pre-test and post-test methods in the SPSS program. The findings of the study indicate that science festivals increase participants' interest in scientific knowledge, enhance their scientific thinking skills, and positively impact social interactions.

    EVALUATION OF PARTICIPANT’S OPINIONS REGARDING “A PINCH OF SCIENCE A SLEW OF FESTIVALS” PROJECT

    Science festivals are public events held in specific regions or countries, offering enjoyable and educational activities, particularly for children. These events aim to enhance scientific curiosity and improve participants’ skills. The present study was conducted to examine the opinions of individuals who took part in the “A Pinch Science A Slew of Festivals Project” organized as part of the TÜBİTAK 4007 special call. This project comprised 11 workshops. The research focused on 300 participants residing in the Hüdayi container Kırıkhan district of Hatay. The study sample, consisting of 300 participants, was selected through convenience sampling and took part in the science festival. Data collection tools included a Personal Information Form and Science Festival Attitude Scale. The data were collected using a pre-test and post-test design, which is an experimental research approach, and analyzed with the SPSS 22.0 program. The study’s results indicate a significant difference in the participants’ views before and after attending the workshops of the “A Pinch of Science a Slew of Festivals Project.”

    Kamu Hizmet Aracı Olarak Web Siteleri; Büyükşehir Belediyelerinin Afet Hizmetlerinin Değerlendirilmesi

    Türkiye coğrafi, iklimsel ve jeolojik yapısı gereği deprem, sel, toprak kayması gibi beklenilmeyen ve yaşanma riski her zaman var olan doğal afetlere sık maruz kalan ülkelerden biridir. Türkiye’nin afetlere açık konumu, afet yönetimini zorunlu kılmaktadır. Bu noktada belediyeler sorumluluk almakta; doğal afetlerden korunmak, zararlarını azaltmak amacıyla yerel halkın ihtiyaçlarını ve kentin özelliklerini dikkate alarak toplumun tüm kesimine ulaşacak afet ve acil durum planları yapmayı amaç edinmektedir. Günümüz dijital çağda yapılan afet ve acil durum planlarının teknolojik ortamlara entegre edilmesi belediyelerin faaliyetlerinin verimliliği ve yerel halkın erişim kolaylığı açısından önem arz etmektedir. Bu bağlamda çalışmada büyükşehir belediyelerinin web sitelerinde afet hizmetlerine yer verilip verilmediğinin ve yerel halkın afetlerle ilgili bilgilere, planlara, belirlenen toplanma alanlarına ulaşabilirliğinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında Türkiye’de faaliyet gösteren 30 Büyükşehir Belediyesi’nin web sitesi incelenmiş, afet yönetimi ve afet hizmetleri kategorilerinin varlığı analiz edilmiştir. Yapılan içerik analizi ile elde edilen bulguların, büyükşehir belediyelerinin web sitelerini afete duyarlı şekilde tasarlamalarına ışık tutması umulmaktadır.

    Women’s Programs from the Perspective of Conspicuous Consumption: A Study on Gelin Evi (Bridal House) Audiences

    The roles of the concepts of "bride" and "groom" of marriage, which make up the basic building block and enable society to exist, are changing day by day through popular culture and media in a globalizing and digitalizing world. The media, which is communicated with the mass media, realizes this with images and symbols and directs the meaning, duties and perception of these two concepts. Television, which is the most important of these tools, has become an indispensable part of our daily life since its invention and is still classified as a tool that still maintains its importance in the changing, developing and innovative media field. This tool changes the perception of the "bride" in the society in the direction of "skilled bride, competent bride", and imposes the opinion that social status will be achieved by owning expensive luxury products by emphasizing the external appearance, through "daytime TV women's programs". These programs, in which the practices of conspicuous consumption, which are a part of popular culture, are exhibited, target female audiences of domestic women, who spend most of their time at home, and by creating program contents that have been planned before, they have also affected the way of application of traditional customs and traditions. Bride candidates competing in the "Gelin Evi (Bridal House)" program, which was broadcast between 2015 and 2019 and decided to continue broadcasting again in 2022, created a competitive environment among them, also creating a competitive environment for their homes, their own bridal dowry, clothing, jewelry, food items and arrangements, wedding, and miscellaneous items. It is a program that selects the most assertive bride by scoring the ceremonies and the bridal belongings mentioned in the previous sentence within the scope of the competition. From this point of view, the aim of this study was to reveal the map of this program on the society within the framework of conspicuous consumption policies, and in-depth structured interviews were conducted with 20 women who were the audience of the program. At this point, it has been understood that the program on 20 women included in the research has changed the perception of the bride and created individuals who argue that the bride, who has flashy and exaggerated luxury consumption products, is one step ahead.
