Öğe Combined effects of controlled atmosphere storage and 1-methylcyclopropene on stored fruit quality of 'Abbé Fétel' pear(International Society for Horticultural Science, 2010) Sakaldas, M.; Kaynas, K.; Yalav, F.; Yurt, U.In this research, the combined and separate effects of 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) and controlled atmosphere storage on some quality and biochemical properties of the 'Abbé Fétel' pear variety were investigated. Fruit harvested from Çanakkale- Kepez region (Turkey) were treated with 625 ppb of 1-MCP, controlled atmosphere storage at 4% O2 and 1% CO2 and a combination of these treatments. Treated fruits were stored at -1 to 0°C and 90-95% RH conditions for 2,5 or 5 months. In addition fruits were kept at 18-20°C conditions for 7 days after each storage period to measure shelf life. After harvest and each storage period with shelf life, some quality properties were measured. The quality measurements were skin color, fruit firmness, total soluble solids, titratable acidity, pH and decay incidence. In addition fruit taste was graded. According to the results a combination of controlled atmosphere and 1-MCP applications and only 1-MCP application were found more effective as keeping the quality during storage and shelf life.Öğe Combined Effects of Controlled Atmosphere Storage and 1-Methylcyclopropene on Stored Fruit Quality of 'Abbe Fetel' Pear(Int Soc Horticultural Science, 2010) Sakaldas, M.; Kaynas, K.; Yalav, F.; Yurt, U.In this research, the combined and separate effects of 1-Methylcyclopropene (1-MCP) and controlled atmosphere storage on some quality and biochemical properties of the 'Abbe Fetel' pear variety were investigated. For this purpose, fruits harvested from Canakkale province were treated with 1-MCP (Smartfresh (TM)) and coating material including sucrose polyester (Semperfresh (TM)). In addition other groups of fruits were packaged with LDPE and PVC shrink film. These 4 group of fruits with control fruits that were untreated and unpackaged were stored at 0-1 degrees C and 85-90% RH for 30, 60, 90 and 120 days respectively. After each storage period fruits were kept at 18-22 degrees C for 3 days as shelf life. After harvest and each storage period, some quality parameters as weight loss, fruit firmness, soluble solids content, titratable acidity and fruit flesh color brightness were measured. Furthermore, the rate of internal breakdown was determined. According to the results, both of the applications had positive effects on the quality parameters after each storage period. Furthermore, modified atmosphere packaging based LDPE and sucrose polyester (Semperfresh (TM)) applications had clear effects.
