Öğe A new fish species for the Northern Aegean Sea Fauna; Aulopus filamentosus (Bloch, 1792)(Ege Univ, 2006) İşmen, Ali; Yigin, Cigdem; Cakir, FikretIn this study, a new record is given in order to fill the gap to some extent, with respect to the fish fauna of the Aegean Sea. A single specimen was sampled among commercial catches from the North Aegean Sea, Babakale coasts in February 2005. It is species, distributed along Aegean Sea from Izmir coasts to Babakale coasts. In study, morphological characteristics and fin formulas was determined with detail.Öğe Age, growth, reproductive biology and feed of the common guitarfish (Rhinobatos rhinobatos Linnaeus, 1758) in Iskenderun Bay, the eastern Mediterranean Sea(Elsevier, 2007) İşmen, Ali; Yigin, Cigdem; Ismen, PinarThe age, growth, reproduction, and feeding of common guitarfish (Rbinobatos rhinobatos) were studied using 225 specimens from the Iskenderun Bay, (eastern Mediterranean). Females made up 43% and males 57% of the individuals. The total length of females ranged from 22.2 to 81 em, and of males from 22 to 120cm. The total length-weight relationships was W=0.0036 x TL2.93. The age data, derived from vertebrae readings, were used to estimate the growth parameters of the von Bertalanffy equation: L-infinity = 128.6 cm, K=0.29, t(0)=-0.89. The maximum age was 5 years. The parturition time of common guitarfish occurred in summer (from May to September). The mean TL and mean weight of developed fetuse were 25.7 cm TL and 48.5 g, respectively. Males matured at 68 cm TL and females at 69 cm TL. The stomachs contained mainly Crustacea. (c) 2006 Elsevier B.V. Fecundity-length relationship and fecundity-age relationships were estimated as F=1,443L(2,4694) (r = 0,65) and F= 1780,6+5635,3A (r = 0,66) respectively. Fecundity varied from a minimum of 1961 eggs at 10,5 +/- 0,131 cm length to a maximum of 26750 at 14,5 +/- 0,131 cm length.Öğe General status of fisheries in Canakkale(Ege Univ, 2006) İşmen, Ali; Colakoglu, Fatma Arik; Ozen, Ozcan; Yigin, CigdemIn this study total production and structure in Canakkale were evaluated by using data obtained from State Institute of Statistics, Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Province Directorate of Canakkale, and Canakkale Fish Market records. Fish species, total landings, fishing boats, and fishing technology in Canakkale region as well as the production and species of fish that enter Canakkale fish market were analyzed between the year 1996 and 2004 years. Number of registered fishing vessels in Canakkale were 1067 and the most harvested fish species were sardine, bluefish, bonito, anchovy, tuna, mackerel, grey mullet, horse mackerel, and red mullet. Total fish production in Canakkale region were 22,774 tons and comprised about 4% of Turkey's total fish production (587,715 tons). The traded number of fish species in Canakkale fish market were about half of the number of species captured in the region whereas the amount was only 2% the amount commercially captured in the region. Most fishing vehicles used beam trawl, gillnet and trammelnet in the region.Öğe The evaluation of fish consumption in Canakkale(Ege Univ, Fac Fisheries, 2006) Colakoglu, Fatma Ank; İşmen, Ali; Ozen, Ozcan; Cakir, Fikret; Yigin, Cigdem; Ormanci, Hasan BasriFish products are an important diet in human consumption because of its animal protein source. In spite of the increasing population and the problems in balanced diet, fish products are not enough consumed in our country. In this study, in order to determine fish consumption habit a public survey was carried out on 680 people in Canakkale, an important fishing and aquaculture farming area. Survey results showed that the most people prefer to consume red poultry (47,5 %), fish (29,85 %) and red meat (22,05 %) respectively. The consumption rate of fish was horse mackerel (Trachurus trachurus), anchovy (Engraulis encrausicolus), sardina (Sardina pilchardus) and seabream (Sparus auratus) respectively. As the consumption form, it was established 65 % of people prefer to consume fish as fresh, for instance as a fried (45,73 %) or grill (39,08 %). Most of the families (87,46 %) consumed 1-6 kg fish in a month.
