SuatThis research was carried out to determine the crustacean species associated with Padina pavonia facies distributed in the upper-infralittoral zone of the Aegean Sea coasts of Turkey and their bioecological features. The investigations were performed at depths of 2-5 m in 13 different stations chosen in the Aegean Sea in June and July, 1995. As a result of the study, a total of 3279 specimens belonging to 85 species were identified. Of these, Ampithoe ramondi was commonest with a dominance value of 21.47%, followed by Elasmopus pocillimanus with 13.94% and Ericthonius brasiliensis with 4.61%. © Tübi?tak.Öğe Kırım (Ukrayna) ve Sinop (Türkiye) kıyıları meiobentik kommunite yapılarının Türkiye'nin Karadeniz kıyıları deniz koruma alanlarının (DKA) belirlenmesi kapsamında karşılaştırmalı araştırılması(2011) Sezgin, Murat; Dağlı, Ertan; Eyüboğlu, Bora; Şahin, Fatih; Bakır, Kerem; Ürkmez, Derya; Çulha, Mehmet[Abstract Not Available]Öğe NEW RECORDS OF TWO SPECIES OF AMPHIPODS, MELPHIDIPPELLA MACRA (NORMAN, 1869) AND MONOCOROPHIUM SEXTONAE (CRAWFORD, 1937) FOR TURKISH SEAS(Brill Academic Publishers, 2009) Aslan-Cihangir, Herdem; Sezgin, Murat; Tuncer, Sezginer[Anstract Not Available]Öğe Notes on amphipods Caprella andreae Mayer, 1890 and Podocerus chelonophilus (Chevreux & Guerne, 1888) collected from the loggerhead sea turtle, Caretta caretta, off the Mediterranean and the Aegean coasts of Turkey(Tubitak Scientific & Technological Research Council Turkey, 2009) Sezgin, Murat; Ates, A. Suat; Katagan, Tuncer; Bakir, Kerem; Yalçın Özdilek, ŞükranThe present study reports the occurrence of 2 amphipod species, Caprella andreae Mayer, 1890 and Podocerus chelonophilus Chevreux & Guerne, 1888, that appeared on the carapace of the loggerhead turtle Caretta caretta (Linnaeus, 1758) in the eastern Mediterranean Sea (Levantine Sea). The amphipod specimens were found on a male Caretta caretta captured during experimental bottom studies conducted off Samandag, Hatay (the Turkish Mediterranean coast) on 7 April 2007. In addition, Caprella andreae Mayer 1890 was collected from the nets of fish cages off the Seferihisar (Aegean Sea) coast (38 degrees 11'32 '' N, 26 degrees 38'07 '' E). C. andreae is a first report for the amphipod fauna in Turkish seas.Öğe On the presence of the non-native estuarine shrimp, Palaemon longirostris H.Milne-Edwards, 1837 (Decapoda, Caridea), in the Black Sea(Regional Euro-Asian Biological Invasions Centre, 2007) Sezgin, Murat; Aydemir, Eylem; Suat Ateş, A.; Kata?an, Tuncer; Özcan, TahirThe non-native estuarine shrimp, Palaemon longirostris H. Milne Edwards, 1837, is reported for the first time on the Sinop Peninsula coast (southern Black Sea). The species is previously known to occur in the northeastern Atlantic Ocean and the eastern Mediterranean including the Aegean Sea and the Sea of Marmara. © 2007 The Author(s). Suat; Sezgin, Murat; Katagan, Tuncer; Ozdilek, H. Goksel; Berber, Selcuk; Kolsal, Secil; Bircan, CuneytThe structure of the benthic amphipod assemblage and its relationship with soft-bottom characteristics (particle size, organic matter, etc.) of the coastal waters at the depths of 0-5 m at the Dardanelles, including the Turkish Straits System, was studied. A SCUBA diver took benthos and sediment samples seasonally using a quadrate system of 30x30 cm as three transects from the 8 different stations between July 2008 and April 2009. A total of 3007 individuals belonging to 50 species was reported. Among these, Corophium acutum Chevreux, 1908 had the highest dominance value (Di%=22.18) and the lowest dominance value belonged to Dexamine thea Boeck, 1861 (Di%=0.03). The highest positive correlation (r(s)=0.57, p < 0.05) was observed between the gravel content (%) and the abundance (ind. m(-2)). The highest sand rate (99.59%) in the sediment was found at the Eceabat site. The lowest rate was at the Kepez Harbour station with a value of 73.01%. The highest H' value (1.53) was recorded at the Eceabat site, and the lowest H' value (H'=0.95) was recorded at the Gallipoli sampling station.Öğe The marine arthropods of Turkey(Tubitak Scientific & Technological Research Council Turkey, 2014) Bakir, Ahmet Kerem; Katagan, Tuncer; Aker, Halim Vedat; Ozcan, Tahir; Sezgin, Murat; Ates, Abdullah Suat; Kocak, CengizThis recent checklist of marine arthropods found on the coasts of Turkey represents a total of 1531 species belonging to 7 classes: Malacostraca (766 species), Maxillopoda (437 species), Ostracoda (263 species), Pycnogonida (27 species), Arachnida (26 species), Branchiopoda (7 species), and Insecta (5 species). Seventy-five species were classified as alien species in the region. This paper also includes the first record of the amphipod Melita valesi from the Levantine coast of Turkey (Kas, Gulf of Antalya).Öğe The Response of Apseudopsis latreillii (Milne-Edwards, 1828) (Crustacea, Tanaidacea) to Environmental Variables in the Dardanelles(Central Fisheries Research Inst, 2014) Ates, A. Suat; Katagan, Tuncer; Sezgin, Murat; Acar, SecilThe tanaid, Apseudopsis latreilli (Milne-Edwards, 1828) is a common crustacean species on the soft bottoms of the Mediterranean ecosystems and occurs in both clean and polluted environments. This study was aimed to determine the sensitive state of tanaid, A. latreillii to the environmental variables observed on the soft bottoms of the Dardanelles. A. latreillei abundance at the sites was analysed in comparision with the organic matter content in sediment and the environmental variables in the study area. A total of 1406 specimens of A. latreillii was recorded during the study. The highest dominance value (Di=30.37%) was for Kepez Harbour where the amount of organic matter was 25.50 +/- 12.09% in the sediment. The highest value of dominance according to the sampling seasons was 56.75% for Autumn 2008 (organic matter=21.7 +/- 7.99%). The highest sand rate (99.59%) in the sediment was found at the Eceabat sampling point. The highest positive correlation (r=0.349, P<0.05) was observed between gravel content (%) measured at the sites and total abundance (ind. 0.09 m-2).Öğe Türkiye' nin Ege Denizi kıyılarındaki kayalık kommunitelerin peracarid Crustacea faunası(2005) Kırkım, Fevzi; Sezgin, Murat; Katağan, Tuncer; Kocataş, Ahmet; Ateş, A.
