Öğe An investigation of resistant behaviors of the teacher candidates toward the teaching certificate courses(2013) Gencel, İlke Evin; Saracaloğlu, Asuman SedaThe aim of this research was to determine the resistant behaviors of prospective teachers toward the Teaching Certificate Courses and to examine the reasons of resistant behaviors. In this study, qualitative and quantitative research methods were used. The research was carried out at Dokuz Eylul University in Turkey (N= 848). The quantitative data of the study were gathered with the “The Resistance towards Teaching Certificate Courses Scale” developed by Yüksel (2004). In order to identify the reasons of active resistant behaviors, interviews were made on voluntary basis with 42 students chosen by criterion sampling of the purposive sampling method. The derived data were interpreted with the descriptive analysis technique.Öğe The evaluation of secondary school 5th grade science applications curriculum implemented in 2013 according to Metfessel-Michael curriculum evaluation model (Muğla sample)(Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi, 2016) Yakar, Ali; Saracaloğlu, Asuman SedaThe purpose of this study is to evaluate secondary school 5th grade science applications curriculum implemented in 2013 according to Metfessel-Michael curriculum evaluation model. Mixed method design is applied in the research. The research sample consisted of 12 teachers who teach science applications course in Muğla province of Turkey, 12 administrators, 24 students and 24 parents. Course observation form and interview forms were used to collect qualitative data. Also the curriculum of science applications course was analyzed and evaluated as qualitative data. Learning outcome checklist for teachers was used to collect quantitative data. Descriptive analysis was carried out to analyze the qualitative data collected through observations in the science applications course and from the views of the teachers, administrators, students and parents. Students’ performance and project points were used as quantitative data to determine gaining levels of learning outcomes. Findings of the currents research show that whereas science applications course pay more attention to the goals, there are some deficiencies in terms of the content, teaching learning process and evaluation. In this sense, it is concluded that teachers need new and varied activity samples during teaching learning process in order to carry out a more efficient science applications course curriculum.Öğe Views of high school teachers on learning and teaching(Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi, 2016-09) Çöğmen, Suna; Saracaloğlu, Asuman SedaThe main purpose of this study is to examine how high school teachers conceptualize the terms of learning and teaching. The study was designed as basic interpretive qualitative research. Participants were seventeen high school teachers working two different public high schools in Denizli. Semi-structured interview form was prepared and the interviews were analyzed according to the constant comparative method. As to the results, a core category labelled “teacher/content-centered approach” and three sub-categories labelled “learning”, “teaching” and “factors affecting learning” were found. Nearly all the teachers have traditional and teacher centered views about learning and teaching. Findings have been discussed in terms of literature.
