Baris; Sagir-Odabasi, SerpilAn invasive commercial, veined whelk Rapana venosa (Valenciennes, 1846) is first recorded in 1946 around Novorossiysky Bay (Russia), Black Sea. This gastropod has been collecting since 1994 in front of Gelibolu (Canakkale, Turkiye). It is possible that they enter this region from Black Sea where the nearest population survive through both shipping activities and natural dispersion. R. venosa is known as predatory gastropod which kill impotant commercial bivaves such Mytilus galloprovincialis (Lamarck, 1819) and Pecten jacobaeus (Linnaeus, 1758). R. venosa especially, feeds on the mussels beds in this region. They are freely hunted by scubadiving and air supply diving systems all year
