Öğe Patient experiences in coronary intensive care unit(Anatolian Journal of Clinical Investigation, 2014) Tuna, Arzu; Bektaş, Murat; Orhan, Fevzi; Ayran, Güldem; Oyur Çelik, GülayCoronary intensive care units is the unit that stay patients who are struggling with life and serious cardiovascular problems. This descriptive cross-sectional study was performed to determine intensive care experience, depression and anxiety levels of patients who receiving of nursing care and medical treatment in coroner intensive care unit. Data were collected by "Intensive Care Experience Scale" and "Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale". Sample consisted of 34 patient who conscious, not connected to the mechanical ventilator, hospitalized maximum of two days in intensive care unit between February-March 2011 in a university hospital. Data evaluated by percentage, the Mann-Whitney U test, Kruskal-Wallis and correlation analysis. Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale scores of men and women were 35.91 and 38.75 respectively. This difference was statistically significant (p =.037). Intensive Care Experience Scale scores of men and women were 57.81 and 61.33 respectively. This difference was statistically significant (p =.309). All of the patients were found to be at risk for anxiety and depression. Educational status didn't affect Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale scores (p=.651) and Intensive Care Experience Scale (p=.198). It is determined that there was negative and low level of relationship between the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale scores and Intensive Care Experience Scale score. It is determined that men are more prone to anxiety and depression, educatin didnt affect the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale scores and Intensive Care Experience Scale score, all patients are at risk for anxiety and depression, anxiety, negative experiences in the intensive care unit were increased with increasing levels of depression.
