Öğe Allerjik Konjonktivitte Topikal A Vitaminin Etkinliği- Olgu Kontrol Araştırması(Maltepe Üniversitesi, 2024) Erdogan, Hakika; Akingöl, Ziya; Taş, KardelenAmaç:Bu çalışmanın amacı semptomatik alerjik konjonktivit ve kuru göz hastalarının konforu üzerine topikal A vitamini merheminin (retinol palmitat, 250 IU/g) etkinliğini değerlendirmektir. Tasarım: Retrospektif çalışma Katılımcılar ve Yöntemler:Bu çalışmaya mevsimsel ve perennial alerjik konjonktivitli 93 hasta dahil edildi. 47 hastaya topikal A vitamini merhemi ve klasik oküler alerji tedavisi, 46 hastaya ise sadece klasik oküler alerji tedavisi (kontrol grubu) reçete edildi. Hastaların oküler alerji ve kuru göz belirtileri ve semptomları her grupta tedavi öncesi ve sonrası karşılaştırıldı. Sonuçlar:Topikal A vitamini tedavisi ve kontrol grupları, oküler yüzey hastalığı indeksi (OSDI) skorları ve parçalanma zamanı (BUT) değerleri açısından oküler muayenede anlamlı iyileşmeye yol açtı, ancak sonuçlar A vitamini grubunda karşılaştırmalı olarak daha iyiydi. Kornea yüzey durumu için Oxford şemasının sonuçlarını gözlemledik ve oküler alerjinin ana semptomları ve diğer bulguları, gruplar arasında anlamlı bir fark olmaksızın, tedaviden sonra her iki grupta da düzeldi. Sonuçlar:Bulgularımız, topikal A vitamini ile yapılan ek tedavinin kuru göz semptomlarının eşlik ettiği alerjik konjonktivit için etkili olduğunu göstermektedirÖğe Moxifloxacin-Impregnated Contact Lenses for Treatment of Keratitis in Rabbit Eyes(Wiley, 2025) Erdogan, Hakika; Gungor, Buket; Suner, Selin S.; Silan, Coskun; Saraydin, Serpil U.; Saraydin, Dursun; Ayyala, Ramesh S.Moxifloxacin (MOX) was loaded into commercial contact lenses (CLs) via supercritical carbon dioxide (ScCO2) to attain MOX-impregnated CL for keratitis treatment. This study aimed to investigate Pseudomonas keratitis treatment with MOX-impregnated CL compared to the traditional eyedrop administration. MOX impregnation was accomplished employing optimum parameters of 2.5 h drug exposure time, 25 MPa pressure, and 313 K for ScCO2 conditions using ethanol co-solvent rendering sustainable delivery, up to 7 days at effective dosage formulation. The MOX-impregnated CL was found to be safe with no significant toxicity on fibroblast cells after 5 days of contact time. Bacterial viability in vivo keratitis treatment in rabbit eyes was significantly decreased to 10(2) from 10(9) CFU/cornea for MOX-impregnated CL treatment, almost similar to exhaustive conventional 0.5% MOX eye drop treatments. The MOX-impregnated CL treatment revealed no conjunctival hyperemia, edema, or secretion for all eyes in the relevant group, and transparent cornea with no keratitis focus was obtained for two of the eyes (n = 6). The normal histological structure was seen with MOX-impregnated CL treatment on healthy eyes. Therefore, a search for new treatment methods has arisen. The aim of this study was to investigate the relevance of mediators such as Erythropoietin, Interleukin 17, and Angiotensin2,which are all involved in proliferation, apoptosis, oxidative stress, and inflammation in age-related macular degeneration. Metods EPO, IL-17, and Angiotensin 2 levels were evaluated by examining the blood samples of patients who did not have any systemic disease or chronic eye disease except Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD). Results The patients were divided into 3 groups. Groups 1,2, and 3 were determined as the control group, dry type group, and neovascular type group respectively. For the purpose of this study, erythropoietin, interleukin 17, angiotensin2 were examined in the blood samples of patients. As a result of the analyses, a statistically significant difference was detected between the groups in terms of EPO, IL-17, and Angiotensin 2. Conclusion If the relationship between many factors related to age-related macular degeneration can be clearly defined, the perspective on treatment may change, especially in treatment-resistant patients.
