Öğe Heteroleptic ruthenium(II) complexes of 2-(2-pyridyl)benzimidazoles: A study of catalytic efficiency towards transfer hydrogenation of acetophenone(Pergamon-Elsevier Science Ltd, 2015) Dayan, Osman; Demirmen, Selin; Ozdemir, NamikSix ruthenium(II) complexes ([RuCl2(p-cymene)(L1-6)], SD1-6, (L1-6: bidentate pyridyl-benzimidazole ligands)) were synthesized from [RuCl2(p-cymene)](2) dimer and bidentate pyridyl-benzimidazole ligands. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis, NMR and X-ray diffraction. The synthesized Ru(II) complexes (SDI-6) were tested as catalysts for the catalytic transfer hydrogenation (CH) of acetophenone to secondary alcohols in the presence of KOH using 2-propanol as a hydrogen source at 82 degrees C. All complexes were active catalysts for TM of acetophenone with good yields under mild conditions (after 15 min, yields of up to 91%). (C) 2014 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.Öğe Piridil-benzimidazol ligantları içeren metal komplekslerinin sentezi, karakterizasyonu ve katalitik özellikleri(Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart Üniversitesi, 2014) Demirmen, Selin; Dayan, OsmanTez kapsamında, (2-piridil)benzimidazol(PBI) türevi altı adet ligand sentezlemiş ve bu ligandların [RuCl2(p-simen)]2 dimeri ile tepkimesinden altı adet katyonik metal kompleksi, [RuCl(L)(p-simen)]Cl hazirlanmistir. Sentezlenen bu maddelerin yapıları FT-IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR ve 13C NMR, elemental analiz ölçümleri ile aydınlatılmıştır. Ayrıca L2d, L2e ve SD6 bileşiklerinin X-ışınları kırınımı analizi ile yapılmıştır. Daha sonra sentezlenen komplekslerin asetofenonun transfer hidrojenasyon tepkimesindeki katalitik etkinliği incelenmistir. Elde edilen sonuçlara göre en yüksek verim yapısında N-H grubu içeren SD1 kompleksinde olup bir saatte %96 verim elde edilmiştir. Katalitik etkinliğin kompleksin sterikliğine göre belirgin ölçüde değişiklik gösterdigi gözlenmistir. Anahtar sözcükler: (2-Piridil)benzimidazol, rutenyum kompleksleri, asetofenonun transfer hidrojenasyonu.Öğe Synthesis, Structural, and Spectroscopic (FT-IR, NMR, and UV) Characterization of 1-(Cyclohexylmethyl)-2-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole by Experimental Techniques and Quantum Chemical Calculations(Pleiades Publishing Inc, 2016) Ozdemir, Namik; Dayan, Osman; Demirmen, SelinThe title compound (II), 1-(cyclohexylmethyl)-2-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole (C19H21N3), was synthesized via N-alkylation of 2-(pyridin-2-yl)-1H-benzo[d] imidazole (I). Both compounds I and II were characterized by IR, NMR and UV-vis spectroscopy. Solid-state structure of compound II was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction technique. Furthermore, quantum chemical calculations employing density functional theory (DFT/B3LYP) method with the 6-311++G(d, p) basis set were performed for the theoretical characterization of the molecular and spectroscopic features of the compounds. Using the TD-DFT method, electronic absorption spectra of the compounds have been predicted at same level. When the obtained results were compared with the experimental findings, it is seen that theoretical results support the experimental data and a good agreement exists between them.
