Öğe Comparative Energy Use Efficiency and Economic Analysis of Apple Production in Turkey: Case of Thrace Region(Springer, 2019) Aydin, Basak; Akturk, Duygu; Ozkan, Erol; Hurma, Harun; Kiraci, Mehmet AliThis study includes the agricultural enterprises producing apple which applied and did not apply good agricultural practices in Thrace Region of Turkey, during the production season of 2014. The basic purpose of this study is the determination of input use amounts, energy use efficiency and economical comparison of the enterprises. In the study, total of 43apple producers who applied good agricultural practices in Thrace Region participated in the survey. Besides, the same survey was also conducted with the same number of producers who did not apply good agricultural practices for the comparison of the enterprises. According to the results, the energy inputs in apple production were calculated as 30,940.16MJ ha(-1) and 33,648MJ ha(-1) in the enterprises applying and not applying good agricultural practices, respectively. Energy use efficiency, energy productivity and specific energy were determined as 1.36, 0.57 and 1.77 respectively in apple production by applying good agricultural practices. Energy use efficiency, energy productivity and specific energy were determined as 1.23, 0.51 and 1.94 respectively in apple production by not applying good agricultural practices. Relative profit values in apple production were calculated respectively as 1.15 and 1.12, by dividing the gross production value by production costs per hectare.Öğe Economic and efficiency analysis of beekeeping activity in Turkey: Case of Canakkale Province(Ankara Univ Press, 2020) Aydin, Basak; Akturk, Duygu; Arsoy, DilekThis study was carried out to determine the economic structure and efficiencies of the beekeeping enterprises in Canakkale Province. Beekeepers were divided into three groups/strata according to number of hives: 1-75 hives (first group), 76-150 hives (second group) and 151 hives and above (third group). Survey sample size was determined as 87 based on stratified random sampling method. The portion of fixed costs were 65.25% and variable costs were 34.75% in averages of production costs of all enterprises. The cost of honey production per kg changed between 2.04 US$ to 3.54 US$ among to enterprises. The average production cost of honey per kg was 2.92 US$. Average yield amount per hive was 16.24 kg and production cost per hive was 53.32 US$. Besides, average gross profit, net profit and relative profit were determined as 77.53 US$, 42.74 US$ and 1.80, respectively. According to the average of the enterprises, total technical efficiency (constant return to scale), pure technical efficiency (variable return to scale), scale efficiency, allocative efficiency and economic efficiency were found as 0.64, 0.89, 0.70, 0.74 and 0.66, respectively. It was determined that producer's age and agricultural activity apart from beekeeping affected the economic efficiency negatively and land size, income per hive and honeycomb changing frequency affected the economic efficiency positively. According to the results, it was concluded that honey production was a profitable activity in Canakkale Province and relative profits and efficiencies of the enterprises in the third group were higher than the other groups.Öğe Energy use efficiency and economic analysis of greenhouse cucumber farming in Turkey: case of Thrace Region(Univ Fed Rural Pernambuco, Dept Administracao, 2019) Cebi, Ulviye Kamburoglu; Aydin, Basak; Cakir, Recep; Altintas, SureyyaThis study was carried out in a plastic covered unheated greenhouse on the lands of Ataturk Soil Water and Agricultural Meteorology Institute in Kirklareli. Energy use efficiency and economic analysis of greenhouse cucumber farming were determined in the study. According to the results, total energy input, energy output, energy output/input ratio, energy productivity, specific energy and net energy in greenhouse first crop cucumber farming were determined as 45452.43 MJ ha(-1), 88303.20 MJ ha(-1), 1.94, 2.43 kg MJ(-1), 0.41 MJ kg(-1) and 42850.77 MJ ha(-1), respectively. Total energy input, energy output, energy output/input ratio, energy productivity, specific energy and net energy in greenhouse second crop cucumber farming were determined as 50470.11 MJ ha(-1), 58534.40 MJ ha(-1), 1.16, 1.45 kg MJ(-1), 0.69 MJ kg(-1) and 8064.29 MJ ha(-1), respectively. Total expenses, gross output value, gross profit, net profit and relative profit of first crop cucumber farming were calculated as 54423.08 $ ha(-1), 100802.74 $ ha(-1), 61760.96 $ ha(-1), 46379.66 $ ha(-1) and 1.85, respectively. The same economic indicators of second crop cucumber farming were calculated as 58299.69 $ ha(-1), 66820.09 $ ha(-1), 24014.61 $ ha(-1), 8520.40 $ ha(-1) and 1.15, respectively. According to energy use efficiency and economic analysis results, cucumber farming in plastic covered unheated greenhouses in the region of the study appeared to be a profitable agricultural activity.Öğe Energy use efficiency and economic analysis of peach and cherry production regarding good agricultural practices in Turkey: A case study in canakkale province(Pergamon-Elsevier Science Ltd, 2018) Aydin, Basak; Akturk, DuyguThe aim of this research was to determine the input output relationship and economic analysis of the enterprises producing peach and cherry which applied and did not apply good agricultural practices in Canakkale province of Turkey. Data was obtained from 55 peach and cherry producers who applied good agricultural practices by survey method and the same survey was also conducted with the same number of producers who did not apply good agricultural practices for the comparison of the enterprises. The results showed that energy use efficiency in peach production was found as 1.01 in the enterprises applying good agricultural practices while it was found as 0.66 in the enterprises not applying good agricultural practices. According to the economic analysis results, the relative profits in peach production were found as 1.88 and 1.82, respectively. Energy use efficiency in cherry production was 1.03 in the enterprises applying good agricultural practices while it was 0.78 in the enterprises not applying good agricultural practices. The relative profits in cherry production were found as 2.05 and 2.00, respectively. According to the results, peach and cherry production by good agricultural practices in the region appeared to be more advantageous agricultural activity. (C) 2018 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
