Assos'ta bulunan Helenistik ve Roma Dönemi kabartmalı seramikler

Assos antik kentinde uzun yıllar boyunca süre gelen arkeolojik kazı çalışmaları, kentin seramik repertuarının anlaşılmasına önemli derecede katkı sağlamıştır. "Assos'ta bulunan Hellenistik Dönem ve Roma Dönemi Kabartmalı Seramikler" adlı tez çalışmasında Assos kentinde Hellenistik ve Roma Dönemi boyunca kullanılmış olan kabartmalı seramikleri irdelenmektedir. Söz konusu seramikler biçim ve dekorasyon özelliklerine göre sınıflandırılarak özellikle bulundukları konteksler dikkate alınarak tarihleme ve güvenilir bir kronoloji oluşturulması hedeflenmiştir. Bu kapsamında Assos'ta 1981 yılında başlayan ve halen devam eden arkeolojik kazılarda bulunmuş olan Hellenistik ve Roma Dönemine ait 92 adet örnek değerlendirilmiştir. Bu eserlerden tam olan örnekler Çanakkale Arkeoloji Müzesi'nde diğer parçalar ise kazı deposunda korunmaktadır. Bu parçaların 74 tanesi Hellenistik kalıp yapımı kase, 5 tanesi aplike seramiği ve 13 tanesi Roma Dönemi kalıp yapımı kabartmalı seramikler grubuna aittir. Bu seramikler kap grubu ve bezemelerine göre sınıflandırılıp, seramiklerin çizimleri yapılarak ve fotoğrafları çekilerek belgeleme aşaması tamamlanmıştır. Seramiklerin kil ve astar özellikleri "MUNSELL SOIL COLOR BOOK" renk kataloğu kullanılarak belirlenmiştir. Büyük bir bölümü Kuzey Stoa ve Batı Nekropolisinde ele geçen kaplar 3 grup altında incelenmiştir. Bunlar Hellenistik Dönem kalıp yapımı kaseler, aplike seramiği ve Roma Dönemi başlıklarında irdelenmiştir. Repertuarın çoğunluğunu Hellenistik Dönem kalıp yapımı kaseler oluşturmaktadır. Diğer merkezlerde örnekler ile karşılaştırma ve kapalı konteksler tarihleri yardımı ile Hellenistik Dönem kabartmalı seramikler M.Ö. 3. yy. sonu-M.Ö. 1. yy ortası, aplike seramikler M.Ö. 1. yy.'ın ortası-M.S.1 yy.'ın başlarına, Roma Dönemi kalıp yapımı kabartmalı seramikler ise M.S. 2.-3. yy.'a tarihlendirilmiştir.

The excavation in Assos, which has been going on for some time now, has showed the imprtance of the understanding of ceramics. The thesis 'Hellenistic and Roman peroid relief ceramics in Assos' takes a closer lookat relief ceramics used in Assos during the Hellenistic and Roman periods. By sorting, identifying, and timing these ceramics via the context, the thesis deals with the identification of period of use and purpose of the ceramics. The thesis deals with 92 pieces of ceramic from Hellenistic and Roman times that come from different areas of the second and third generation of the excavations in Assos, and are currently stored in the depot in Assos and the Troia museum. 74 of these pieces are Hellenistic moldmade bowls, 5 are applique ceramics, and 13 belong to the Roman Period moldmade ware. Of these ceramics the container type and similar types were identified, drawings made, photographs taken and they were classified. The clay and lining's chracteristics were determined with the color catalogue called 'MUNSELL SOIL COLOR BOOK'. Most of the ceramics were found in the North Stoa and the West Necropolis and can be sorted into three main groups. These examples moldmade bowls group Hellenistic ceramics, applique ceramics and molmade ware was used during Roman times. A majority of the ceramic looked at in this thesis are Hellenistic moldmade bowls. The ceramics were dated by comparing them to founds in other places and earlier founds in Assos, and as a result were dated to 3rd century B.C. to 1st B.C. for Hellenistic relief ceramics, midddle of 1st cemtury B.C. for applique ceramics, and 2nd to 3rd century A.D. for the Roman Period molmade relief bowls.
