Although the development of the theory and practices of skill based pay mostly go back to the 1990s, the system still remains unknown and mystery in Turkey. Skill based pay presents a different approach in compensation literature but, it has not found a wide application in Turkey. The firms with more foreign capital mostly implement thesystem. Skill based pay focuses and tries to integrate two main subsystems into human resource processess. Spelling frame focuses on integrating the training and compensation systems in order to create value for organizational development. So that, the objective which is to create high performance employee profile with high degree of knowledge, skill and competency could be managed easily. This article tries to explain the importance of skill based pay, the main steps of design and implementation issues and finally makes clear the possible individual and organizational outcomes.
