İşletme eğitiminde yöneylem araştırması konularının yeri ve öğretimi üzerine bir değerlendirme

Abstract

As a scientific field that uses mathematical methods, Operations Research has received attention in various academic researches with topics on the development of methods and their application. In academic studies, the education of these topics has received little attention. However, in the recent years, with the developments in the field of education, these topics have started to gain importance. In the current business world where the effects of globalization on companies are felt the most, competitive edge can be obtained by, among many other factors, using effectively the methods that help objective decision making. In this respect, revising Operations Research education within Business education, increasing its effectiveness, and bringing the topic into discussion in the academic world will be beneficial. Success in education will reflect positively on the business world, contributing to Turkish companies' chance in global competition and success. Within this perspective, this research investigates the current developments, discussions and directions in Operations Research education. Then, the importance of mathematical modeling in applying operations research methods, the effectiveness of interactive and active learning methods, and the use of case studies and software are examined. Finally, the application of these educational methodologies in Turkey is investigated.
